Hi Protective Parents,

I am a clinical social worker with over 20 yrs experience working in the trauma field.   I am dedicated to helping trauma survivors and their supportive, non-offending family members.  I’m also interested in teaching and providing prevention information.  This blog will focus on ways parents can protect their children from being victims of sexual crimes.

Sexual abuse happens to far too many children in our society, and it can affect their young lives for many years.  All parents need the know-how in recognizing warning signs of potentially abusive relationships, especially since most children are sexually abused by someone that the family members already know or have met.

Would you recognize a situation where your child is being groomed or prepared for sexual abuse?  If not, please come back and keep reading.  We’ll be discussing these issues at length.

I would like to open this blog with a poll for you.   I am wondering how many people know where the sex offenders are in their local neighborhood.  Do you have any idea?

Please respond in the following poll –

Thank you for your interest in this blog.  I recognize your interest in protecting your children, and I commend you for that.

Your comments are welcome!

Warmly,

Kathy Broady LCSW
